TERROR TUESDAY

For quite a while, I have been writing online novels for the Graveyard Group on Facebook and on my own blog. It's been a lot of fun and very productive for me. Since I have another online novel working elsewhere, probably my last one, I have decided to discontinue writing the novel chapters there. I don't wish to over-expose myself.

However, I have a new bag of tricks up my sleeve. I plan to continue on with Terror Tuesday, but this time I will be spotlighting the works of other writers, artists, editors, etc. I plan on going with new and older horror folk. I have plenty of people to choose from, but if any of you wish to get a free plug about upcoming or in progress work, let me know in a PM on my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/blaze.mcrob?ref=tn_tnmn. Not only will this be posted on the Graveyard Group on Facebook, but my FB page, other groups of common interest, and on my blogs as well.

You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain. Exposure is great, and free makes it even better.

Book Description

“The ends justify the means”...

For vampire Miranda Dandridge, using her supernatural abilities to rescue children from impossible circumstances is her means to be a part of the human world that she loves so much, despite the atrocities of WWII.

For doctor Ben Gongliewski, saving his fellow Jews from the horrific death camps is an end for which he risks his own life every day, hiding his Jewish heritage while feigning loyalty the SS.

Neither Miranda nor Ben expects to find love in World War II Europe, but that is exactly what happens as they work for the Resistance. When the war draws to a close, it seems like the vampire and the doctor are free to start a future together. But just how far the Nazis will go to further their own evil ends?

Desperate times make for ruthless men as loves and lives are threatened, but, Miranda and Ben know that their world cannot go to hell, not by any means…

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful supernatural read! January 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
What do you get when you put together vampires, fallen angels, demons, a werewolf and humans and throw in a Nazi war? A really awesome story. I really liked the characters, and thought it was an interesting touch to have the story be told in third person from various characters' points of view except for one character in first person (and not the main character, neat way to do it). I liked how a lot of the historic elements were based in fact ("Himmler's Rasputin" and the Wewelsburg Castle). The "big bad" of the story was not someone easily predicted, and the nice twist at the end was deliciously horrible. I love a good "gates of Hell are about to be opened" type of story.

Did you ever wish you had the ability to use magic and cast spells to do anything you wanted to? Well, so does Keldane. Unfortunately, just being the son of the most powerful magic user the world has ever known doesn’t come with any guarantees. It’s not without very good cause he’s known to his classmates as Keldane the Cursed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Read, March 7, 2013

Keldane's struggles to survive school and live up to the expectations of others are something everyone - young and old - can relate to.

My grandson and I read this book together, and between Keldane's mishaps and Barnabas' misfortunes, we did a lot of laughing.

We found ourselves empathizing with Keldane and his hapless victims, and we're certain you'll enjoy this entertaining adventure as well!

Two thumbs up for Hollar's storytelling!!

This great, charming tale is Story Of The Day for Visionary Press Cooperative. I love this fairy tale by Wendy Howard and told her to do more for a super collection. Guess what? She said yes. Yay!

Had a Great Fall by W. J. Howard

The morning of King Monty’s birthday was cold and rainy, but no deterrent for the townspeople to stay indoors. They all rushed to Main Street under umbrellas to watch the parade that kicked off the annual celebration. Too short to see over the crowd, Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall at the corner of Main and Vine.
Horns blared to announce the start of the procession. Humpty’s rounded bottom teetered forward as he glimpsed to see the arrival of the king’s soldiers. They’re approaching rather quickly, he thought.
The horses’ hooves echoed at a full gallop from the start of the parade route, and a wave of screams followed the course of the soldiers. Humpty’s eyes widened when he saw what had caused the charge. Zombies, he thought at first, then pointed down the street and hollered out, “Zombies!”
With swords drawn, the soldiers hacked off the heads of the undead, at the same time, their swords severed the live flesh of the spectators, agitating the zombies to a greater extent.
Letting his nerves get the better of him, he lost his balance, and Humpty Dumpty had a great fall to the sidewalk below. He was knocked out cold, his shell cracked at his head. The crowd around him was in a panic, kicking and pushing poor Humpty out of their way. Slimy clear egg white oozed from his shell as he rolled into the center of the street, where he came to a stop and broke in half. His entire insides, yolk and all, spilled across the pavement.
When the zombies reached the mess, they slipped on poor Humpty’s insides as if ice skating for the very first time. They all toppled like dominos on the eggy remains, making it possible for the soldiers to surround the flesh eaters and lop off every last undead heads.
The crowd that remained gathered and cheered, and chanted Humpty name. Unfortunately for him, he would never know that he had saved the day, because all the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

SOUTHERN SHORTS - BY SUE MYDLIAK - COMING SOON!

Southern Shorts by Sue Mydliak

Southern Shorts is the epitome of pure Southern hospitality with a bite at the end, so to speak. It’s like taking a slow, lazy trip on a river, relaxing and then wham you are thrown for a loop. That’s what these stories bring you.

Charlese, the main character, and her neighbor, Willodean Ferris find themselves in the most awkward situations, while Chester Bertie, Charlese’s boss at the Chubby Weiner’s is a friend with benefits. Then, but not least, is the town’s Lady of the Evening, Lydia Hankshaw. You’re best to stay clear from her, never know what she’ll give you, if you know what I mean and a whole load of other characters that’ll make you wish they were your friends…or not.

Short stories are cool. In this case, they're terrifyingly cool! Would we have it any other way? I think not. Coming soon to Visionary Press Cooperative is Southern Shorts by Sue Mydliak. Well worth the wait.

SAM - BY LISA MCCOURT HOLLAR - VISIONARY PRESS COOPERATIVE BOOK OF THE DAY!

http://www.lisamccourthollar.com/

My Book Of The Day for today is Sam, written by Lisa McCourt Hollar. Lisa is a very prolific author and does much work for Visionary Press Cooperative and the writing community in general. She is one of my Women In Horror. I first read Sam through some good-natured taunts from Rebecca Treadway, the great Art Director for Angelic Knight Press. I went, I read, and I was hooked on Lisa's writing.

Below is a book description and Rebecca's book review. Bear in mind that Rebecca is pretty picky about her books.

For only .99cents, this book is a steal!

Book Description

Sam is dead. Tommy, his best friend, wants him back. Sam might only be a goldfish, but he is the only friend the neglected boy has. When Mama Tasha casts a spell to bring Sam back to life, things get a little strange and Sam develops a decidedly, un-fishlike appetite.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rather poignant, in an eerie way March 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Admittedly, I offered to design the cover in exchange, I read the story. I'm not into Zombie fic, but a Zombie goldfish piqued my curiosity. It reads like a story you would tell your child before bed, including a voodoo style rhyme. If your kids are Wednesday and Pugsley Addams, of course! I found myself feeling kind of sorry for Sam and young Tommy. There are diabolic hints of a sequel. Would be interesting to read what else is cooking in Lisa's deviant mind! :

CALL FOR OBSTRUCTION

Call for Obstruction (The Courier #1)
by W. J. Howard

In the first episode, Barry has just lost his fourth job in the past year due to corporate downsizing. Desperate for employment, he jumps at the first position he’s offered over the phone, driver for OTG Courier Services. Shortly after meeting his new boss, a tiny yet fiery old lady named Margery, she coerces him into signing a questionable employment contract, which he soon regrets.
Visionary Press Cooperative had published this great book once before, and I really loved it, but W. J. Howard decided it needed to be changed. and you know what? It's even better the second time around. I should know: I'm doing the edits on it.

This great book will be coming soon. You know you want it!
